Pastor Adeboye, also known as G.O or Daddy G.O, assumed the role of General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in 1981. The birth of the Holy Ghost Services in the late 1980s marked a turning point for RCCG, as it led to greater success and recognition. These services are characterized by fervent worship and the manifestation of miraculous signs. In 1998, the annual Holy Ghost Festival was launched, and it was named Lekki '98. This event drew an enormous crowd of around 4 million people who gathered for an all-night service of fellowship, praise, and prayer. It is likely one of the largest gatherings of Christians globally.
